
Speirs Jewellers Fashion on the Field Guidelines
Entrants must enter themselves prior to the event.
THE COMPETITION
(excludes Junior Racegoer & Young Racegoer)

Contestants must ensure they fulfill the criteria for entry. Those who do not meet the criteria will be eliminated.

Contestants will be issued a numbered paddle and as each group is called up they will proceed onto the stage for judging.

A judging panel will select their top contestants and ask them to remain on the stage. All other contestants will be asked to leave the stage and will hand back their numbered paddle to a staff member.

From the remaining contestants on the stage the judges will select their winner.

The aim of the competition is to acknowledge individuals that have gone to the effort to piece together their own unique racewear outfit.

Contestants may not be affiliated with a Fashions on the Field sponsor, including as an employee or promotional work for a sponsor.

The judge’s decision is final.

ENTRY CRITERIA

Contestants must be 18 years of age and over.

Contestants must be dressed in appropriate seasonal racewear.

Female contestants must have appropriate headwear to complement their racewear.

Contestants and their outfits are not permitted to have any commercial agenda (ie, in order to promote a business or designer)

Contestants must not receive any compensation from a third party for entering.

All contestants must be wearing shoes.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The Judges will base their decisions on the following criteria:

Style & Originality
-
Appropriateness of the outfit for the Griffith Races

Attention to detail in putting together a whole look, including accessories
-
Understanding and interpretation of the current fashion trends

Grooming and deportment
-
Suitability of the outfit for the climate

Judges will look for a complete outfit including a headpiece
-
Millinery Award Only:
-
Quality and workmanship of millinery including elements such as technique, line, and trim.

Appropriateness of the millinery for the individual, as well as the outfit.

Contemporary Lady of the Day Only:
-
Demonstrates fashion with an edge, with an outfit that is “on-trend”.

The outfit will demonstrate the individuals’ interpretation of the contemporary style, trends and innovations.

Classic Lady of the Day Only:

Demonstrates awareness of classic tailoring

Superior attention to detail, coupled with timeless style
