Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each category

 

Judging of all categories will take place after Race 2

THE COMPETITION:

(excludes Junior Racegoer & Young Racegoer)

  • Contestants must ensure they fulfill the criteria for entry.  Those who do not meet the criteria will be eliminated.

  • You will either be asked to enter Fashions on the Field by roving judges or you can enter yourself between race three and four.

  • Entry in the Couple of the Day, Man of the Day and Lady of the Day categories is open to all persons 18 years and over.

  • Contestants will be issued a numbered paddle and as each group is called up they will proceed onto the stage for judging.

  • A judging panel will select their top contestants and ask them to remain on the stage.  All other contestants will be asked to leave the stage and will hand back their numbered paddle to a staff member.

  • From the remaining contestants on the stage the judges will select their winner.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

The Judges will base their decisions on the following criteria:

  • No Compulsories – ie hosiery or gloves are not essential

  • All contestants must be wearing shoes

  • Judges will look for a complete outfit including a headpiece

  •  Beauty Hamper from John Dodd Pharmacy valued at $500

  • Style, originality, attention to detail.

  • Interpretation of current fashion trends, wearability.

  • Quality and workmanship of millinery including elements such as technique, line, and trim.

  • Appropriateness of the millinery for the individual, as well as the outfit.

    Prize:

  • $500 open voucher at Speirs Jewellers (sponsored by Speirs Jewellers & Griffith Jockey Club)

  • $400 open voucher at Hip Digs

CONTESTANT CRITERIA:

All contestants in the Couple of the Day, Man of the Day, Lady of the Day and Millinery Award must fulfill the following criteria:

 

  • Contestants must be 18 years of age and over.

  • Contestants must be dressed in appropriate seasonal racewear.

  • Female contestants must have appropriate headwear to complement their racewear.

  • Contestants and their outfits are not permitted to have any commercial agenda (ie, in order to promote a business or designer). The aim of the competition is to acknowledge individuals that have gone to the effort to piece together their own unique racewear outfit.

  • Contestants must not receive any compensation from a third party for entering.

  • The judges decision is final.
